Växjö’s Karlsson sacked

Janne Karlsson is the first coach in Elitserien to be sacked after another loss yesterday.

Växjö lost at home to Brynäs yesterday and only has 10 points in 14 games. Now head coach Janne Karlsson has been sacked as a consequence of the bad start. Hard reality for the man who took the club the Elitserien and a successful first year. Karlsson will be replaced by 33 year old Sam Hallam who has been assistant behind Karlsson this season and was head coach for BIK Karlskoga in HockeyAllsvenskan in the last four seasons.

Notable from Brynäs win to Växjö was that young Elias Lindholm scored two points. In the other games AIK took an important win after 2-0 against Luleå. Two quick goals in the middle of the game gave AIK three points.

Despite a quite good game Timrå lost their third consecutive game 1-3 against Linköping. Timrå has big problems with their scoring effiency. Skellefteå won the top game away to Färjestad, Niclas Burström scored the overtime winner.

Just as Växjö, Rögle only has ten points so far and but at least took a strong point away to HV71. David Fernholm gave the bonus point to HV71 after an earyl overtime goal. Rögle's Danish defender Jesper Jensen got a bad concussion.

MODO come back from 0-2 to a 3-2 lead but still lost 3-4 to Frölunda. Fabian Brunnström scored the game winner two minutes before the end assisted by Matt Duchene who had two assists in his first game for Fröunda. Mario Kempe scored two goals for MODO.
