Elitserien round 5

Elitserien round 5

27 Sep 2011 | Fredrik Pålsson

With one extra game played Frölunda won their fifth game and had their third straight shutout. Växjö won their first victory in their new home arena.

Linköping - AIK 5-2
On Monday Linköping defeated AIK 5-2 at home. AIK decided to rest their star goalie Viktor Fasth but he was backed on the ice after 20 minutes. Markus Svensson was abandoned by his defense and conceded three goals within the first three minutes. AIK came back to 3-2 but Linköping extended their lead and are in second place.

Luleå - Färjestad 2-0
The game was scoreless for 56 minutes before Sami Sandell scored the game winner. 2-0 came in the empty net. Färjestad are in second last place with only three points and Czarnecki's position as head coach could be in danger if last seasons's champs don't improve soon.

Skellefteå - HV 71 1-3
A game between two teams in the middle of the table. Skellefteå had 38 shots on goal but only scored once on Daniel Larsson. Jason Krog scored twice for the guests.

Djurgården - Brynäs 2-4
Djurgården had 2-0 but lost everything and Brynäs came away with a 4-2 win. Andreas Dackell scored two goals for Brynäs that now are in third place.

Växjö -  MoDo 4-2
In their first ever season in Elitserien Växjö have started quite good. Today they won their first home game in their new arena VIDA Arena. Moran, Iggulden and Soares all had two points. MoDo are in tenth place and has been uneven so far.

Frölunda - Timrå 5-0
Top versus bottom could only end in one way, an easy win for Fröunda. The team has only conceded three goals in six goals and when Danish sensation Frederik Andersen was on the bench it was Magnus Hellberg that managed to give Frölunda their third straight shutout. For Timrå things look really bad, will they survive this season?
