We take a look on what happened in Elitserien when it resumed after the international break.

After the international break it was unusual week in Elitserien with games every except from Sunday.

First out was the derby in Stockholm between AIK and Djurgården were AIK had to play without there star goalie Viktor Fasth who became ill during the Karjala Tournament. Instead Markus Svensson who had terrible experience from his earlier games with AIK this season but after gaining som confidence by playing with Oskarshamn in HockeyAllsvenskan he made a brilliant game when AIK defeated Djurgården 5-0. Djurgården's coach Hardy Nilsson was heavy critized after the game as Djurgården has been disapointing so far during the season.

On Tuesday Växjö took a strong win at home to Frölunda 3-1, most notable in this game was that two Swedes scored for Växjö when Anders Eriksson and Johan Andersson scored for Växjö.

On Wednesday two games were played. Djurgården came back from their poor effort in the derby and defeated Färjestad 5-1 on home ice. Jimmy Ölvestad and Kristoffer Ottosson both scored three points. In the other game Brynäs defeatd Skellefteå away 3-1 in a close game (last goal in empty net)

On Thursday the two bottom teams of the table played their first game after the break with some new players. MoDo won 4-3 after shootout against HV71. New signing from AHL Mattias Ritola scored the game winning goal and had two assists. However MoDo wasn't pleased with two points as HV71 tied the game with just 20 seconds left of regular time. Timrå had two new players in their roster Johan Motin and Fredrik Bremberg but also lost their super star Petr Vampola during the break. Vampola who lead the team in scoring wanted to leave the team and the club didn't stop him hoping to be able to sign a couple of new players as he was the most well payed player on the team. New Fredrik Bremberg had two assists in his first game but it was only enough for one point as Luleå won the shootout.

On Friday Färjestad stopped a streak of losses by beating Brynäs on away ice with 1-0. Christopher Nihlstorp made 25 saves for the shutout. Djurgården played their third game in five days and took two points on away ice after beating Växjö in a shootout. Frölunda continued to be strong on home ice and won 3-1 against Skellefteå who has not shown the best form recently.

On Saturday MoDo won a very important game away to AIK 4-2. MoDo in eleventh place now has the same amount of points as AIK in tenth. Timrå who had has a terrible start to the season are now also only six points behind AIK after a strong team effort gave them a vital win, 4-1 away to Linköping. Linköping who is a big disapointment so far and are now outside the top eight that qualifies for the playoffs. The third game of the day also ended with an away victory. Mikko Luoma scored the game winner in over time for HV71 against Luleå despite the fact that Luleå had 37-19 in shots on goal. That win gave Hv71 a five point margin lead of the league however with one more game played.

Next week Elitserien will continue with games on all days on the week, a lot of interesting games will be played one of the most interesting the very important game in the bottom of the table between AIK and Timrå.
