Elitserien: Weekly update

Eurohockey.com takes a quick look on standings of Elitserien at the international break and on last week's action.
HV71 goes into the international break as league leaders after winning three oof the last four games. The only loss came at home to Brynäs. Notable was the win in the derby against Växjö when HV71 came back from 0-2 to win 4-2 after four goals in the third period.
Skellefteå is second three points behind and with one game less played than HV71. Skellefteå took eight out of nine points last week but was a bit luckily to win away at Timrå. The only lost point came at home when they needed penalty shots to beat Växjö.
Frölunda is now third after some ups and downs last week. A penalty shot win away to Djurgården was followed by a 6-3 win at home to MoDo. Frölunda came back from 0-2 down and scored four goals in less than eight minutes. On Saturday Frölunda first loss at home of the season came when Linköping won 2-1 in Gothenburg. The biggest downside however is the fact that key players Joel Lundqvist and Magnus Kahnberg both are out with injuries.
Brynäs had a strong week with eight out of nine points, Djurgården was the only team who managed to take a point. Sebastian Lauritzen has been strong with 18 points in 20 games so far. Besides beating HV71 and Djurgården Brynäs also defeated Växjö 5-2.
Luleå is in fifth place after two wins in the last week. All three games had few goals as Luleå lost to Färjestad 1-2, won 2-1 agains Linköping and 2-0 against AIK.
Linköping is still very much up and down and are in sixth place. Only scored four goals in last week but it was very strong to win against Frölunda on away ice. Most notable from that game however was Sebastian Karlsson's tackle on Magnus Kahnberg. As previously reported on eurohockey.com Karlsson has been suspended eleven games for that tackle.
Färjestad is climbing after the bad start to the season and are now in seventh. Last week gave them two wins at home and a loss on away ice against AIK.
Växjö is in eight place but only got one point last week. Mike Iggulden still leads the league in scoring but hasn't scored so many points lately. Tomi Kallio is third in scoring.
Djurgården is ninth but has one game less played. After being out of form lately Djurgården seems to slightly improve and took points in all games last week. Two shootout losses and a 3-0 win at home to Timrå.
AIK is out of form and only won one out of four games last week. Last season's success goalie Viktor Fasth has also been more human lately and was replaced in AIK's last game when they lost 3-4 at home to HV71. Roger Rosén scored a hat trick in that game but it wasn't enough, Rosén is second in the league in scoring with 21 points in 20 games.
MoDo is eleventh and second last. They won an important game last Tuesday at home against rivals Timrå but then lost two away games despite having the lead in both.
Timrå is in last place and are in some kind of crisis. 16 points in 20 games is poor and the team lost all three games last week. The club has sacked the manager Stefan Lindvist and are looking to sign at least one new player during the international break.
