HV71 are new leaders after 5-1 away to Färjestad in round 17 as Frölunda lost away to Timrå. Per Hållberg the first Swede to score for Växjö.
After a strong week with three wins HV71 are new leaders of Elitserien. They started by defeating Skellefteå after overtime at home and then won away to Djurgården before a very impressive 5-1 win away to Färjestad who had five straight wins before that game.
Frölunda are now second after they a bit surprisingly lost away to Timrå 3-1 today. Otherwise Frölunda had showed good form by beating Luleå 3-2 and Brynäs 5-1. Magnus Kahnberg and Joel Lundqvist both had three points against Brynäs.
Skellefteå are a bit up and down at the moment but are still in third place. This week they only scored three goals in three games and had two overtime losses before losing the derby game to Luleå 2-0.
Linköping are slowly starting to climb the tables are a now fourth but only had four points this week. 0-3 to Färjestad was followed by a shootout win against MoDo and overtime win again Växjö.
Brynäs are fifth and had a week with both ups and downs. They conceded five goals at home to Timrå but still managed to win after penalty shots, 1-5 away to Frölunda was followed by a strong 4-0 win away to AIK.
Luleå are sixth after starting the week with losing two games with 2-3. But they won the most important game, the nordic derby against Skellefteå. Johan Gustafsson one of the big heroes with 26 saves for the shutout.
Växjö are seventh and in round 16 a Swede finally scored for Växjö in Elitserien. Per Hållberg was the man who did it, new Norwegian Jonas Holøs also scored in the 3-2 win against Luleå. Växjö also beat MoDo away 2-0 and took one point away to Linköping.
After Färjestad's terrible start to the season they can now be happy to be in eight place. They started the week with their fourth and fifth win in a row but today they lost 1-5 at home to HV 71. Notable from this game is that Martin Sevc was given a match penalty in the second intermission, according to HV71's coach Ulf Dahlén, Sevc said something racistic to Daniel Rahimi.
Djurgården are showing bad form in ninth place but can be glad for an overtime win away to MoDo today. Marcus Nilson scored the winner with 10 seconds left to play of the overtime. Jimmy Ölvestad had tied the game late for Djurgården.
AIK are tenth, but just as Djurgården they have one game less played. An important shootout win away to Timrå was followed up by weak 0-4 at home to Brynäs today.
MoDo are having trouble and are looking to sign new players again, perhaps Fredrik Bremberg? MoDo only scored three goals and took only two points this week.
Timrå are slowly starting to wake up in the bottom of the table and today took a very important win at home to Frölunda after a number of close losses. They still have a lot to improve, especially the penalty killing. 66 % so far is terrible.
