Weekly update of Elitserien

Despite losing their last game 0-2 at home to Linköping Skellefteå tops the standings after 14 rounds with 29 points, 16 of them taken on away ice.

Frölunda are second and has only conceded 19 goals in 14 games, very strong. They are still unbeaten on home ice but lost their only game of the week 3-4 after overtime away to HV 71.

HV 71 are in third place and has scored most goals so far, 47. Besides beating Frölunda at home they won 6-5 away to Timrå. Per Ledin scored a once in a life time 5 assists while Oscar Sundh made a hat trick.

Luleå are in fourth and took another strong win yesterday with 3-1 away to Djurgården. On Thursday they lost 5-6 after penalty shots at home to Brynäs, a rare result for Luleå that almost never concedes more than three goals in one game.

Linköping are in fifth place. Their Czech start duo Hlinka and Hlavac made their first game yesterday due to tax reasons and Hlavac scored in a strong 2-0 win away to Skellefteå.

Brynäs are in sixth place after five points this week, the penalty shot win at Luleå was followed by 5-2 at home to MoDo.

Newcomers Växjö are in seventh place they have been uneven so far and after 4-3 win away to AIK they lost 1-4 at home to Färjestad. Still only six players have scored and the team rely a lot on Mike Iggulden who has scored 20 points so far. In the game against Färjestad he was pointless with -3.

On the last playoff spot is Djurgården another team that has been very uneven so far. Two points away to Linköping was a good effort but they are surely disapointed at losing at home to Luleå.

AIK are in ninth despite having one of the best goalies of the league in Viktor Fasth and the number two in scoring Robert Rosén who has 14 points so far.

Last seasons champions Färjestad are in tenth place and after being without a win in regular time in the first 11 rounds they now have three consecutive wins. That despite the fact that they have had an player sent off with a game misconduct for checking to the head in the last four games.

Second last is MoDo with a bad power play and bad defense. Good news for MoDo however is that Mika Hannula extended his short time contract despite earlier reports saying that he wanted to move abroad.

Timrå is dead last with only 11 points in 16 games. And in seven home games they only managed three points so far. This week they had two new losses on home ice, 1-2 to Färjestad and 5-6 to HV71 when they rallied back from 2-6 down but didn't came all the way.
