HC Davos - Kloten Flyers 2nd round 1/4 final

HC Davos - Kloten Flyers 2nd round 1/4 final

14 Mar 2014 | Andreas Reiner

Kloten steamrolled by HC Davos and Dario Bürgler

Klotens top scorers, Peter Mueller, Tommi Santala were no where to be found in the first game, the result, a 1:3 defeat with the lone goal
scored by Matthias Bieber, the 3rd best scorer of the team. This wouldn't be a problem if the Flyers wouldn't heavily rely on those 3 players
for their goal production.

This time, the capricorns opened the scoring, it took them exactly 19 seconds when Andres Ambühl scored the first goal, assisted by Enzo Corvi and Beat Forster. It took
the Flyers over 13 minutes to then get on the scoreboard a first time. Michael Liniger scored on a pass by Simon Bodenmann to correct their bad start. In the 19th minute,
Davos' Petr Taticek was assessed with a 5 minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and an automatic game penalty. Kloten couldn't score on the man advantage in the first period.

As the 2nd period started it was Dario Bürgler in the 24th minute assisted by Perttu Lindgren and Ville Koistinen to give Davos the second lead of the game. The Flyers weren't able to react, the consequence was the 3:1 after 31 minutes on a powerplay, this time it was Beat Forster who had assisted on the first goal, the assist came from Andres Ambühl. And if that wasn't enough, Dario Bürgler with his second goal of the night made it 4:1 shorthanded, assisted by Davos' top scorer Marcus Paulsson! A goal from Klotens Simon Bodenmann was the least the Flyers could do with the one-man advantage, still trailing Davos with 2 goals. But only 2 minutes later Dario Bürgler completed his hattrick, assisted by Reto von Arx and Beat Forster who collected his 3rd point of the evening, again with a one-man advantage.

Kloten looked bad on all positions, the complete abstinence of their first line offensive players and a less than stable defense were relentlessly revealed. If Kloten wants to
stay in the race, a win at home is a must. Otherwise holidays will be planned earlier than expected.
