Luleå shows great form in Elitserien

While Luleå moves against the top of the table, Timrå and Rögle shows bad form at the bottom.

On Tuesday Luleå won two games! First the earlier game against HV71 that was abandoned due to an injury in the third period was finshed and Luleå won 2-1 in overtime. Right after the next game was played and Luleå won an impressive 6-0 win against the league leaders. Yesterday Luleå followed it up with a solid 3-0 win away to Linköping (who now has 0-8 in the last two games). Luleå now has four straight wins and 19-2 in goal difference (the finished game not included).

In the bottom of the table Rögle is last and seems to be destined to finish there as well. And when they also were struck by illness they lost 1-7 at home to Färjestad. Färjestad was several classes better and had seven different goal scorers. Chris Lee and Marcus Paulsson scored three points.

Another team with troubles are Timrå that hasn't scored a goal in three games. After losing 0-3 to Växjö and 0-1 to Frölunda they lost yesterday's derby to MoDo 0-2 (last goal in empty net). Timrå had 38 shots on goal but failed to beat Starkbaum. Alexander Steen returned to MoDo after injury and scored the game winning goal in the second period.

Frölunda who has been a dissappointment so far followed up the 1-0 win away to Timrå to beat Skellefteå 3-1 at home. Matt Duchene had one goal and two assists when Frölunda came from behind to win after a good performance.

Växjö who has been very good since they made a coach change won against Färjestad on Tuesday and looked good to beat last year champions with a 1-0 lead after the first. But Brynäs turned the game around and won 4-2 after two goals by Calle Järnkrok. Two straight wins for Brynäs (5-0 against Linköping on Tuesday) show that they didn't lost any self confidence after the 1-8 loss to Luleå this weekend.

HV71 remains in the lead but are some what lucky to still be ahead of Luleå as Marcus Nilson (his second goal of the game) tied the game against AIK in the last second of the game. Jason Krog went on to give HV71 the extra point in the shootout.  Another hard loss for AIK who is still in eleventh place.
