Kölner Haie win classic against Adler Mannheim

All 14 DEL teams played on Friday. The four bottom teams all won their matches. Lockout stars Brière and Giroux involved in three goals in Berlin success.
Kölner Haie, league leaders, managed to get their 10th win in the first 12 matches by defeating their long-time rivals and second-placed Adler Mannheim. Nathan Robinson and Rok Ticard had pathed the way for the home success in the first two periods before lockout player Marcel Goc cut the lead for Mannheim. In an even match Feliix Schütz won the three points for Cologne with an empty netter with 50 seconds left in regulation.
The Panthers from Augsburg couldn't benefit from Mannheim defeat as they lost themselves 1-5 in a with 14,200 spectators sold-out O2 World in Berlin against the local Eisbären. Daniel Brière with three assists and Claude Giroux with one goal and an assist helped the hosts to now be only two points away from the second place in the table.
ERC Ingolstadt defended their fourth place in the league table by getting an away win in Krefeld. Within less than seven minutes at the begin of the second period the Bavarians earned a three-goal lead against the Krefeld Pinguine but through Richard Pavlikovsky and Christian Ehrhoff the hosts found back in to the match. At the end the small 3-2 difference was enough for Ingolstadt.
Nürnberg missed the chance to keep up with the top group by losing against second last Iserlohn Roosters 3-4. For the Roosters it was Mike York who was decisive with a double.
Hamburg Freezers lost their Northern derby against the Hannover Scorpions at home in shootout. With a dobule within less than one minute of the first period Tim Richter and Ivan Ciernik earned a two-goal lead for Hannover before Thomas Dolak and Jerome Flaake at least saved a point for the hosts. In the following shootout Scott King gained the extra point for the Scorpions.
Straubing tied a two-goal deficit against the Düsseldorfer EG but in the end stayed without a single point. First Daniel Kreutzer and Manuel Strodel put the puck into the net for the DEG in the initial period before Carsen Germyn and Blaine Down scored the equalizer in the following 20 minutes. In the end Marc-Anthony Zanetti with his strike at 56:40 was decisive for the guests from Düsseldorf.
The Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg beat Red Bull München in overtime but couldn't get away from the last position in the DEL table. Martin Buchwieser with a hat trick brought München three times in front but in every period Wolfsburg found the right answer. First Aaron Brocklehurst made it 3-3 for Wolfsburg at 56:00 before he gained the extra point for the hosts with just two seconds left in the five-minute overtime.
