Frölunda’s winning streak comes to an end

Frölunda’s winning streak comes to an end

18 Feb 2012 | Fredrik Pålsson

A full round was played in Elitserien today. Here is a short summary of all games.

MoDo - Färjestad 0-3

Christian Berglund was the man of the match when he scored a hat trick when Färjestad made a very solid away game and won 3-0 to MoDo. Christopher Nihlstorp made 22 saves for the shutout. Both Nihlstorp and Berglund was happy with the team effort "A very good away game and I get good help from the defense", Nihlstorp said. MoDo's first line was not that lucky and Ahnelöv and Tollefsen was on ice on all three goals.

AIK - Linköping 4-2

AIK more and more looks like a playoff team after showing good form lately. Despite having to play the last two games without their two goalies. Niklas Lundström has done a good work as replacement in goal. Today Linköping took the lead two times in the first period but AIK came back and turned the game around much thanks to the top scorer Robert Rosén who scored one goal and two assists and a +4.

Frölunda - HV71 1-2

After winning seven games in a row Fröluna's winning streak came to an end today. Frölunda had 34-15 in shots on goal but still lost after two goals by HV71 in the first period. Kamil Piros made it 0-1 before Jukka Voutilainen doubled the lead on a penalty shot. Christian Bäckman pulled one back early in the second but Frölunda never tied the game despite many chances.

Timrå - Växjö 2-1

Timrå finally won again after six losses in a row. But they are still in another negative trend, they haven't had scored more than two goals in any of the last six matchers. Ilkka Heikkinen gave Växjö the lead with another power play goal from his stick. But in the third period Timrå finally managed to score on two of their 42 shots when Yared Hagos and Matt Murley scored. Perhaps Murley can find his way back to his good form from the start of the season, that would be good for Timrå in the relegation round. Växjö may still end up there aswell.

Luleå - Djurgården 2-1

Another team that are coming closer and closer to relegation round is Djurgården. Djurgården took the lead in the first period but two goals by Elias Fälth turned the game around in the second period and Djurgården has only won one game in the last eight games. Luleå still leads Elitserien.

Brynäs - Skellefteå 3-1

A team between two top teams. Skelleftå won the shots 31-21 but Brynäs won the game 3-1 and is in second place. Skellefteå who recently lead the league has not had the best form recently and is now in fifth place after four losses in a row. Jakob Silfverberg made the 3-1 goal and has now scored at least one points in eight games in a row.
