Eisbären Berlin won the DEL regular season while Straubing Tigers clinched the last quarter final spot.
Eisbären Berlin - Kölner Haie 4-3 SOEisbären Berlin won the regular season after a shootout win against Köln in the last round. Eisbären dominated the game with 53 shots on goal but Köln managed to take the game to overtime and shootout. Sven Felski scored the game winner for Berlin while Darin Olver scored two goals in regular time. Köln finished in ninth place and plays in the first playoff round for a place in the quarter finals.
Straubing Tigers - Adler Mannheim 5-3Straubing Tigers clinched the sixth and last direct quarter final spot after a close 5-3 to win against the Adler Mannheim. Straubing dominated the game and had 25-11 in shots on goal after two periods but the score was still 1-3 after 40 minutes. But Straubing tied the game by two quick goals scored by Sandro Schönberger and Rene Röthke at 3:08 and 3:27 in the third. At 16:00 Andrew Canzanello (who also posted two assists) scored the game winner while Ryan Ramsay added the insurance goal two minutes later.
Hannover Scorpions - Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg 5-0Hannover finished in last place but finished the season with a good game when they defeated third place Wolfsburg 5-0. Dimitri Pätzold made a great effort saving all 30 shots while Christopher Herperber led the offense with two goals and two assists.
Augsburger Panther - DEG Metro Stars 3-4 SOBoth Augsburg and DEG had the chance to qualify for the quarter finals but both missed out as the game was tied at regular time. It was a close game where the teams took turns in having the lead. Patrick Reimer was the hero of the game scoring the game winner in the shootout and also scoring one goal and one assist in regular time.
EHC München - Hamburg Freezers 4-2Eleventh placed München won against fifth placed Hamburg. Martin Buchwieser gave München the lead early and later added two assists in a game that was controlled by the home team. It only got a bit shaky when Serge Aubin scored a shorthanded goal late in the second period. But München secured the win by two goals early in the third period.
Krefeld Pingune - Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers 1-3Two teams at the bottom of the standings which both missed out on the playoffs. The Ice Tigers finished the season best. The score was 1-1 after the first period but after that the guests took over the game, however it wasn't before halfway through the third period that Eric Chouinard gave the Ice Tigers the lead. Four minutes later Adrian Grygiel made it 1-3 on the power play.
ERC Ingolstadt - Iserlohn Roosters 3-2Ingolstadt finished in second place after a 3-2 in the last round. Iserlohn who finished in tenth place took the lead 0-2 after goals by Fretter and Hommel but Ingolstadt come back and turned it around. Two power play goals by Michel Periard and Christoph Gawlik sealed the win in the third period.
Despite being scoreless today Wolfsburg's Norman Milley finished as the top scorer of the league with 14 goals and 44 assists in 52 games. His teammate Kai Hospelt was the top goal scorer with 25 goals. Mannheim's Christopher Lee was the top scoring defender with 13 goals and 32 assists. And even if München only finished eleventh Jochen Reimer was the best goalie with a 2.08 GAA and 93.3 in save percentage.
In the first playoff round played in best of three DEG Metro Stars will play Iserlohn Roosters while Augsburger Panther will play Kölner Haie. The winners will join Eisbären Berlin, Adler Mannheim, Hamburg Freezers, Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg, Straubing Tigers and ERC Ingolstadt
