The HC Valpellice Bulldogs tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Ritten Sport would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.
Ritten Sport made the score 5-2 on a goal by Luca Ansoldi at 17:33 in the third period, and HC Valpellice got as close as 5-3 when Andrea Ambrosi scored 19:59 into the third period.
Matt Siddall had two goals to lead Ritten Sport to victory. Siddall found the back of the net 8:26 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and again while 12:17 into the third to make the score 3-2 Ritten Sport
Ritten Sport also got points from Daniel Tudin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Emanuel Scelfo also scored for Ritten Sport. In addition, Ritten Sport received assists from Eric Johansson, who had two and Travis Ramsey, David Urquhart, Patrick Rissmiller, Lorenz Daccordo, Levi Nelson, and Maxime Moisand, who each chipped in one.
The Bulldogs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as HC Valpellice finished with 16 penalty minutes.
The Bulldogs were helped by Michal Petrak, who registered one goal. Petrak scored 16:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 HC Valpellice Slavomir Tomko assisted on the tally. HC Valpellice additionally got points from Ambrosi, who also tallied one goal and one assist. HC Valpellice also got a goal from Pietro Canale as well. More assists for HC Valpellice came via Scott Barney, who had two and Ryan MC Donough and Patrick Rizzo, who contributed one each.
Ritten Sport Chris Mason stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Ritten Sport incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jeff Frazee rejected 36 shots on goal for HC Valpellice. The Bulldogs registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
