Few leagues in Europe and around the world were still active after WHO declared Covid a pandemic. Last in order of time, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Latvia Federations declared the leagues, both at the playoffs stage, suspended or cancelled.

Latvian Federation, after having played the last two regular season games behind closed doors, decided to cancel playoffs following the Latvian government, in view of the high prevalence of coronavirus (Covid-19), has decided to introduce a state of emergency and has imposed strict bans on assembly. At the same time. also JAHL (Youth Development Hockey League), the second league and all the junior competitions are suspended.

In Kazakhstan the first round of playoffs were played behind closed door, but, starting from March 15, games are suspended indefinitely. A definitive decision about the fate of championship will be taken on March 18. Is still to clarify the situation of Barys Nur-Sultan, playing in KHL: the Barys Arena is closed by city authorities decision. "HC Barys act under the auspices of another league - the KHL.This is not a republican competition. A decision of the city authorities is already necessary, whether it is possible to continue the playoffs for the Barys team in the city of Nur-Sultan or to hold matches in another arena in Kazakhstan or Russia.I am sure that the leadership of the club, city and league will find the right solution in this matter." said the Kazakhstan Ice Hockey Federation Executive Secretary Gleb Karataev

In Lithuania, where League is at the playoffs semifinals stage, Federation issued a statement: "Hockey championship games are temporarily suspended. This means that the rest of the semi-final will not be played in the near future and the final will not start. The decision on whether to end the championship will be taken at a later stage, depending on the situation at that time."
