Estonia wants to make history

From a team that barely escaped from relegation in the last years to a possible candidate for the promotion: Estonia!

The dream continues: Estonia wins also Croatia coming to the last day of tournaments with hopes of an incredible promotion: Croatia doesn’t repeat the superior performance showed against Ukraine and still escaped from relegation, playing all hopes in the last game against Romania.

Showing from the beginning a better presence on the ice, Estonia opens the score with its best line: Robert Rooba finalizes a pass from Andrei Makrov. Same Rooba has another great chance on counterattack a minute 12 wasted firing on Tomljenovic. After controlling the rest of period, Estonia bites again on shorethanded: Embrich, the hero of late victory with Romania, intercepts a puck in the neutral zone serving Roman Andrejev for the second goal with 11 seconds to play. Croatia begins with energy the second period, finding the net with Borna Rendulic, in a move very similar to Andrejev’s goal. But Estonia is no more the fragile team that barely survived to relegation in the last Championships, today is a solid team, able to react when opponent seems to take the control, as at 28:23 when Embrich with class seats Tomljenovic to score 3-1. At minute 13 a deflection by Arrak doesn’t find the net for inches, while Tomljenovic is superb in rebounding on Vasjonkin and Andrejev. Estonia survives a double superiority without risks. In the third period Estonia loses forward Aleksei Sibirtsev, out with hand injury, suffers the comeback of Croatia but closes the question with Robert Arrak at 53:49 and with Embrich, again shorthanded, taking a puck stolen by Kevin Parras from Dominik Kanaet and now can face super favourite Lithuania with nothing to loose

MVP: Marko Sakic – Roman Andrejev
