The longest game ever played

The world record for the longest ice hockey game ever played was broken in Norway yesterday when Storhamar won the quarter final game in the eleventh period.
In 1936 Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Maroons played a game that lasted for 176 minutes and 30 seconds. Over 80 years later the record was broken, with over two periods! The fifth game of the quarter final series between Storhamar and Sparta Sarpsborg started at 18:00 and finished 1-1 after regular time. The first overtime period was scoreless, so was the second, and the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.
Finally at 02:32 a clock, 17:14 into the eight overtime period and eleventh period in total Joakim Jensen smashed home the game winner for Storhamar after an insane 217 minutes and 14 seconds of total play. Shots on goal ended 96-93 and understandable the both Swedish goalies Samuel Ward and Oskar Östlund were named the best players of the games, both making over 90 saves.
The longest European game before this one was the German game Kölner Haie-Adler Mannheim, 168 minutes and 16 seconds long.
Storhamar leads the series 3-2 and the teams will play again on Wednesday, the question is if they have any energy left for that game..?
