Ryan Whitney retires
MODO Hockey announced today that defenseman Ryan Whitney have decided to retire from his career. -"I took the decision after last nights' game," Whitney said.
MODO's defenseman Ryan Whitney have decided to retire from his hockey career, MODO announced today. Due too many injuries and that his body can't handle the preassure any longer. Ryan played two games with MODO.
-"I would like to adress my warmest thanks to MODO for that they gave the chance to play this season, but unfortunately, I feel that my injured foot is stopping me to play at this level. Örnsköldsvik is a beautiful city and the organization is world class. I really wanted to play the whole year here, but when the body says stop I didn't have a choice," Ryan Whitney said to MODO's website.
-"Of course it's very sad for us and Ryan is a great guy," MODO's GM Per Svartvadet said.
Whitney was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins as pick 5 in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. After four seasons in Penguins, Ryan continued his career in Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers and HC Sochi. MODO Hockey became his last team before his body said enough.
