Good old Geneva

Good old Geneva

Bern and defending champions Zürich Lions with a bad night.

Good old Geneva known by is physical game is back in town. Canadian coach Chris McSorley repeat the formula that has given him access to two NLA finals, After a first period with three goals (Romy, Rivera, Fata), Bern did everything they could to score goals. But Swiss goalie Tobias Stephan was there for all eventualities with 46 saves.  Even if Tristan Scherwey scored for Bern at minute 43, Geneva controlled well the game until the final.

In Zürich after the first 50 minutes, where the Lions have dominated the game with a solid defense and two goals by Swiss star Andreas Ambuhl, everything has changed. Michael Riesen and Juraj Kolnik give Rapperswill a good start in the 2012/2013 league. Are the two famous scorers back for a good season? Canadian defenseman Derrick Walser with two assists also played a good game with a +/- 3.

Huge curiosity around Kloten after the financial problems in the summer, in Vaillant Arena at Davos, with only two foreign players (Dupont, Lundberg), the Flyers have played a solid game. With 45 saves Swiss Goalie Leonardo Genoni was the MVP  of the game, avoiding a big struggle for Davos. Swiss legend coach Arno del Curto is clearing waiting for lock-out and the two NHL superstars Rick Nash and Joe Thornton.

2011/2012 surprise team Biel starts the season in the bad way. After a first period with no goals, Gianni Ehrensperger scored the only goal for Biel at minute 22. It was the wake up call for home team Fribourg-Gotteron. Two minutes before the second period Hasani and Bykov give advantage in the game for Gotteron. In the beginning of the third period Tristan Vauclair scored the third in a scramble. After a video review, the referee gives the goal. In the final minutes of the game Knoepfli scored the fourth for Fribourg after a great triangulation between Pavel Rosa and Sandy Jeannin. Bad start for former first round draft pick Marc-Antoine Pouliot with 16 minutes in the penalty box.
