The Polish storm
GKS Tychy redeems the defeat in the opening game destroying Narva PSK
GKS Tychy redeems the unprecedented defeat at
the debut with a convincing victory against Narva PSK in day 2 of Continental
Cup second round in Riga and now must bet its chances of qualification on
Donbas: if Ukranian team will beat Kurbads tonight, hope will be still alive.
Both teams change the goalies, with Aleksandr
Kolossov, at seasonal debut, and Kamil Lewartowski
in the net. The gap between the opponents is immediately evident: different
speed, different skills on ice: after a great save by Kolossov on Mike Cichy, Tychy opens the score on power
play at 02:02 with a shot from distance by Bartlomiej Pochiecha. Th only vital
sign from Narva is a chance by Kirill Iljin, stopped by Lewartowski, recovering
a puck lost by Tychy in the defensive
zone. A double power play gives Tychy the second goal, scored by Jaroslaw Rzeszutko,
courtesy of a not perfect attempt by Kolossov. A couple of minutes later, the
Estonian defence forget Bartlomiej Jeziorski alone in front of the net, easy
for the forward to score the third, served by Filip Komorski. Finally Narva
survies a power play with a couple of great saves by Kolossov on Bryk and Cichy.
The period ends with another save by Kolossov on Kalinowki and an eloquent 21-1
shots on goal
Also the central period is a monologue of
Polish team: after 2 minutes Adam Baginski scores the fourth goal on Ilya
Kaznadei pass. Narva can breath gaining a power play after 5 minutes, well
killed by Tychy defence. With team back at full strength, the fifth goal is
question of minutes: it comes at 27:38 with Mike Cichy finishing a pass from
Pochiecha. After two good chances for Georgi Vassiljev – an attempt on
shorthanded blocked by Lewartowski and a shot deflected, Tychy score two more
goals in a minute: again with Adam Baginski at 33:31 and Patryk Kogut at 34:52.
Narva has no more energy to fight and literally vanishes from ice: Tychy score
again at 37:01 with Mike Cichy wasting chances with same Cichy, Goscinski and
Jeziorski, all alone in front of the goalie.
The storm continues in the last period:
hattrick from Baginski at 41:02 and two goals by Mike Cichy, one on power play
and the last with a shot under the
crossbar, seal the final 11-0 in a game with too much gap between the team
