The 2015 JCWC featuring eight junior teams from Russia, USA, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Finland, Sweden and Belarus started today in the Sverdlovsk region in Russia.
Junior Club World Cup is played for the fifth time, this time without participants from for example Canada and Czech Republic, but with eight other international top clubs. Winners day one were TPS Turku of Finland, Djurgårdens IF of Sweden, Chicago Steel of USA (USHL) and the home team Avto Yekaterinburg.
The JCWC is played in two groups of four teams where the top two teams of each group qualify for the semi finals ehile the bottom two will play placing games.
TPS Turku - Dinamo-Shinnik Bobruisk 4-3
Dinamo-Shinnik of Belarus was ahead three times but the Finnish side got the last word as Veeti Vuorio scored the winner at 54:13.
Avto Yekaterinburg - HK Riga 3-1
Pavel Zykov, Roman Ivashov and Maxim Askarov scored for Avto in their home arena KRK Uralets.
Chaika Niznhy Novgorod - Djurgårdens IF 4-6
Alexander Glimtoft and Johan Järlefelt scored two goals each when the Swedish participant Djurgården beat Chaika 6-4 in a close battle.
Chicago Steel - Snow Leopards Astana 3-0
Chicago's goalies Daniel Vladař and John Lethemon shared the shutout against the team from Kazakhstan. Charlie Raith and Max Zimmer both 1+1.
