Perth Thunder are officially admitted in next Australian Ice Hockey League
AIHL welcomes the
Perth Thunder to the league for 2012 as expansion team. Thunder application was examined and approved during AIHL General assembly this week. "Today we are seeing the result of 4 years of hard work" declared team's director Rick Del Basso. On November 28th 2010, Perth Thunder were granted a provisional license with the AIHL for the 2011 season. The geographical position of Perth was considered a factor to put in jeopardy Thunder admission. Now AIHL should grant some kind of airline deal to allow other teams, all from East Cost, to travel to Perth and viceversa.
Last may Perth played two friendly games against Adelaide Adrenaline (2-2 and 3-0), while in september AIHL runners up Newcastle North Stars, were beaten twice at home
