Olimp Riga was established before the beginning of last season and entered in the Optibet Liga as favourite after a transfer campaign that bring to Riga many ewell known names of Latvian hockey, mainly former veterans of KHL team Dinamo Riga. Last season Olimp won regular season but caan't play the playoffs due to the Covid-19 emergency that forced to cancel the post-season. The club was declared champion by the Federation but the decision was contested and partly was the reason for HK Kurbads withdrawing the league.

This season the club joined forces with Venta 2002. Finished second in the regular season, behind Zemgale Jelgava, Olimp won 4-1 in the aggregate the semifinals series against traditional HK Liepaja and needs only four games (3-1 ; 4-1; 3-1 ; 5-1) to beat Zemgale in the finals. Jelgava team reached the finals for the second time after 2017-2018 season, when lost series against HK Kurbads

Former Dinamo Riga Mikelis Redlihs, signed in January, was named Finals MVP
