U20 tournament wins for Finland, Latvia, Slovakia and France

During the international break U20 tournaments were played in Finland, Belarus, Slovakia and France. Three of them were won by the home teams while Latvia won the tournament in Grodno, Belarus.

 
 
 
 

The four EHT countries Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Russia played in Hakametsä and Hämeenlinna in Finland and the home side went through the tournament undefeated. They beat the Czechs 3-2, Russia 2-0 and Sweden 4-1. A 6-0 win against Czech Republic and one point from the overtime loss to Russia in the opening game was enough for Sweden to capture the second place. Czech Republic beat Russia 3-2 to finish third. Sweden's Robin Kovacs scored three goals and a helper to win the scoring title.

In Grodno, Belarus the Latvian U20 team lead by Leonids Beresnevs beat Austria 3-1, Denmark 5-1 and Belarus 5-2 to be clear winners of the tournament. Top scorer was Danila Karaban of Belarus who scored 2+4 points. Latvia was lead by Rihards Puide (3+1).

Also Slovakia got a perfect record in its tournament but it was close in the first two games. In the 2-1 win over Germany Matej Palocko scored the winner at 54:29. In the 3-2 win over Switzerland the Swiss team had a 2-0 lead but Lukas Hrusik finally got the winner for the home team at 48:48. Norway was beaten 5-2 in the last game.

France got easy wins against Slovenia (6-1) and Italy (5-1). The 3-2 shootout win against Hungary decided the tournament. Loic Coulaud got the winner there.
