Mark Richardson (Cardiff Devils, EIHL) surpassed Jonathan Phillips' all-time record for games played in the Elite League on Sunday night, playing in his 1,178th EIHL game.

Mark Richardson has played 1,178 Elite League games.

Second is Jonathan Phillips played 1,177. In league history, only Matthew Myers and Robert Lachowicz join Phillips and Richardson in surpassing 1,000 games, while Ben Davies is on track to reach the milestone later this season.

He first played for Cardiff in 2005. He has spent most of his career in Wales, having a brief spell with Nottingham in 2007.

His club manager described him as a legend and he has played a vital role in every championship we have won and been a great ambassador for us off the ice. He is the ultimate pro and the ultimate teammate.
