The start of 2015/16 SHL season is closing in and for upcoming season, there will be 14 teams competing for the trophy Le Mat. Reigning champions are Växjö Lakers. For the next 14 days, Eurohockey is presenting one team each day. In Part 12. we meet Malmö Redhawks.
Malmö Redhawks are back in the highest league after have been relegated 2006/07. By defeating Leksands IF in a tough game serie, Malmö managed to themselves back to SHL. The team is looking strong and it could be a fun hockey season in Malmö.
Malmö have lost a couple of players, but replaced them with some significant and experienced players. T.J Galiardi, Andreas Thuresson, Peter Mueller, Derek Meech and Kent McDonell have all signed with the newcomers.
Malmö is looking really strong and the chances that they will stay in SHL this year, is good. But it's going to take a great effort from the whole group, as the league is so equalized and no team really stands out.
Opening game for Malmö will be on September 17th against Brynäs IF in Gavlerinken, Gävle, Sweden.
