The start of 2015/16 SHL season is closing in and for upcoming season, there will be 14 teams competing for the trophy Le Mat. Reigning champions are Växjö Lakers. For the next 14 days, Eurohockey is presenting one team each day. In Part 6. we meet Växjö Lakers.

Växjö Lakers became Swedish champions in their fourth SHL season. Now, for upcoming season, the team from Småland, Sweden will be chased by the other 13 opponents. A tough task and certainly a new one.

Växjö have lost some good players before upcoming season. Sebastian Erixon, Nick Johnson, Jani Lajunen, Tomi Kallio, Noah Welch, Rhett Rakhshani and Jeff Tambellini all left and have been replaced by Joakim Hillding, Linus Fröberg, Viktor Andrén, Ilkka Heikkinen and Richard Gynge.

What about Växjö Lakers anno 2015/16 then?
Most of Lakers nucleus is intact and therefore the players knows what is expecting from them. Maybe the team isn't as strong as they were last season, but the team chemistry is still there and that can bring them a long way.

Opening game for Växjö will be against Luleå HF September 17th in Vida Arena, Växjö, Sweden.
