After 37 years Gap is champion of France in a thriller series against a fierce Epinal
It took 7 games in the finals to determine the Ligue Magnus champions 2014-2015.Rapaces Gap reported 5-3 the last game in front of their supporters, winning the title 37 years after the last success, beating GamYo Epinal, the underdog of the season, reaching for the first time in its history the last act. Finished nine in the regular season, Epinal had an amazing playoffs campaign, knocking out Strasbourg, in playoffs qualifications, superfavourite Rouen in the quarter-finals and last season finalist Angers in the semifinals. Gap, third in the regular season, beated Amiens in a difficult quarter-final (3-2 in the series) and Dijon in easier semifinal (4-1).
It's the second consecutive title for Coach of the Year Luciano Basile, champion last season with Briançon, the first coach in the history of Ligue Magnus to achieve this fact. Gap captain Teddy Trebichet was awarded as Playoffs MVP. Gap will play in next Champions' Hockey League, while Epinal should have a spot in Continental Cup.
At the other side of standing, Drakkar Caen was relegated after losing playout series against Lyon, replaced by Bordeaux, champion of Division 1
