After eight years Belarus is back at the highest U20 level. Five wins in five games earn them a place at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland.
Last time Belarus played at the top division of the World Juniors was in 2007. They were then lead by Mikhail Stefanovich and Sergei Kostitsyn but suffered relegation. After past week's wins over Slovenia, Italy, Latvia, Norway and Austria Belarus gets a new shot amongst the elite nations.
The closest contender at the 2014 World Juniors Division 1A in Asiago was Norway. But in the end there was four points between the teams. The game between Belarus and Norway was no close competition either. Belarus had a 3-0 lead after the first period and cruized to a 5-1 win.
Slovenia won the last game against Italy but was still relegated to Division 1B with four collected points. They will be replaced by Kazakhstan who won Division 1B in Hungary.
Dmitri Ambrozheychik of Belarus was the tournament's top scorer with four goals and eight assists. His teammate Artur Buynitskiy was second with eight goals and three assists.
