21 Sep 2013 | Alan Ilijic
CSKA records another loss at home, this time to Torpedo, Dinamo Riga crushed Vityaz scoring six, Lev surprises the champions as Dynamo falls in Prague, while Slovan gets an overtime win against Ak Bars. All today's action to enjoy.
CSKA
- Torpedo 1:2
CSKA
continue to oscillate in their game this season as they lose another one at
home. Torpedo records their second road win after beating Slovan in Bratislava
with a shutout 3:0. CSKA took the lead early in the first with Igor Grigorenko
lighting the lamp at 6:43. Brandon Reid was on the assist.
But
from then on, it all went downhill. Although they outshot their opponents
29-22, the visitors torpedoed the home team twice, with a goal in each of the
remaining periods. At 37:23 Sakari Salminen levels the game on the powerplay,
while Maxim Potapov scores the game-winner at 51:13.
In
the end CSKA tried with the extra attacker as they pulled Stana to the bench,
but that didn't help and Torpedo gets 3 new points.
Dinamo
Riga - Vityaz 6:1
Paul
Szczechura strikes twice in a row as Dinamo demolish Vityaz of Podolsk 6:1.
Dinamo's domination started early on as they took the momentum and by the end
of the first 20 minutes were already in the lead by 2. At 11:29 Marcel Hossa
puts Dinamo on board for the first time of many, while at 17:19 Mat Robinson
doubles the lead.
Oskars
Cibulskis extends the lead to 3 two minute after the intermission, while Vityaz
get some hope back after Kristaps Sotnieks was ejected from the game for
checking to the head and neck area carrying a 5 minute major penalty. Vladimir
Malevich took advantage of the penalty striking from the blue just two minutes
after.
But
that was all Vityaz could offer. Aleskanders Nizivijs stretched the leadt to
three again with a powerplay tally at 31:14, only for Paul Szczechura to score
another one two minutes before the second break.
As
mentioned above, Szczechura added another one in the final period at 55:33 as
the powerplay was expiring but Logan Pyett picked a cross-checking call on the
scoring play.
Dinamo
proved solid offensive performance and closed the game wisely neutralizing any
chances for the Russians and continue to march on through the league, keeping
up with Western Conference two top teams, SKA and Dynamo Moscow.
Lev
- Dynamo Moscow 2:1
Lev
started strong early on with a physical game and it was only a matter of when
will Lev strike for the first time. Lukas Cingel lit the lamp at 12:45 to get
Lev the edge which was reviewed before being acknowledged. Jakub Nakldal and Erik
Christensen were on the assists.
Lev
played a strong penalty kill in the first to keep the net untouched, and
extended the lead early in the second through Niko Kapanen's strike 3:29 into
the second. The Czechs didn't stop there continuing to put pressure on the
current champions, still Dynamo gets right back in it with Maxim Pestushko's
low strike from the slot on the feed from Leo Komarov.
Lev
had another breakaway immediately after the strike but Birner gets stoned by
Lazushin right in front.
The
first five minutes in the final period were marked by stoppages in play, until
Lev burst out in another breakaway after a giveway in Dynamo zone, though
Lazushin gives no space for dekes and cover the shot from Christensen.
Until
the end Dynamo reignited the tensions and put hard pressure on the Czechs, but
didn't find the way to the net, to lose another three points in dead race with
SKA.
Slovan
- Ak Bars 2:1 OT
Milan
Bartovic puts the end to the story at 62:51 as Slovan put an end to a two games
losing streak at home. Bartovic took the puck in his own zone and made a huge
breakaway all the way to the net coming from the right side and shooting from
low range past helpless Emil Garipov.
Slovan
took the edge early in the second period with Martin Skoula at 26:45, as he
receives the puck on the right side by the blueline right off the faceoff,
skates all the way to the other wing by the line and takes a shot on net that
gets deflected in front of Garipov and goes in.
Bars
Kazan level the game through Alexander Svitov who gets a feed from Dmitry
Obukhov and fires within the slot with ten minutes to go in the game.
The
game was consequently taken to overtime, when Milan Bartovic ended it with a
breakaway.
