NLA Regular Season preview

NLA Regular Season preview

09 Sep 2013 | Luis Lopes

The defending champions SC Bern are still the favorites to win the championship. The opponents are stronger then last year, especially Fribourg and Zürich.

The NLA league version 2013/2014 will be a very interesting one. There aren't many leagues in the world stronger than the one of the country from the Alps.  In the last ten seasons, 6 different clubs have played in the play-off finals. Bern, Fribourg, Zürich and Davos are the favorites.

Eurockey outlook:

1.  Bern

Why - Bern is even stronger than last year. Justin Kruger, Thomas Wellinger and Simon Moser give Bern a lot of options.

No way - Roche is always injured and Mikko Lehtonen will be replaced at the mid season.

2. Fribourg

Why - It's Hollywood over there. Three strong lines. Great Goalie.

No way - Fribourg doesn't have a strong defense and defense wins championships.

3. Zürich Lions

Why - ZSC defense is strong like a rock, Blindenbacher is only defender number 5 over there. Marc-Andre Bergeron will be the best "quarterback" on the league.

No way- Bergeron doesn't know how to defend.  Nilsson will be a deception.

4. Davos

Why - Young team, starving for victories and tittles. Guggisberg and Ambuhl are back.

No way - Finnish players? really? This is a Czech's team! And Guggisberg and Ambuhl are not back....

5. Zug

Why - Brian Boucher is a experienced goaltender. Schremp and the kids are ready to rock!

No way - Boucher is an old goalie and he isn't fast anymore. Josh Holden will pass this season injured.

6. Geneva

Why - Stephan is the best goalie in Swiss League. Lombardi has the best hands and Hollenstein is the hottest Swiss Player in the League.

No way -  Have you seen that defense? Antonietti and Kamerzin has number 3 and 4? really?

7. Lugano

Why - When you have Campoli-Heikkinen-Metropolit-Domenichelli-Fritsche on Power-Play only good things can happen to this team.

No way - Injured players. A lot of them.

8. Kloten

Why - Strong defense. Olympic Goalie. Mueller is a superstar.

No way - Old goalie. Financial Problems. And Mueller is superstar.

9. Ambri

Why - Giroux and Williams are the hottest duo in the league. They can score. A lot.

No way - 3rd and 4th lines aren't strong. Financial Problems.

10. Biel

Why - Forwards players are stronger. Meili can play at 90% . Schlapfer is still a voodoo coach.

No way - Berra isn't there anymore. Not a strong defense. Schlapfer can't save you this time.

11. Rapperswil

Why - Very good foreign players. Very good coaching.

No way - Aebischer. Defense.

12. Lausanne

Why - Euphoria. Will surprise a lot of people.

No way -  Injuries problems. Once the euphoria is gone the season will be long.
