Thanks to a late 3-2 come back home side Dynamo Moscow doubled their lead in the Gagarin Cup final series against Traktor Chelyabinsk and have best chances to win the title.
Gagarin Cup finals, day 2
Dynamo Moscow (W3) - Traktor Chelyabinsk (E3) 3-2 (1-1, 0-1, 2-0)
In an even first period the hosts Dynamo had the better start with an early goal at 10:28 when Alexei Tsvetkov won the puck on the left wing and gave a brilliant pass to the middle where Jakub Petruzalek waited and sniped the puck into the right top corner with a shot from a central position that surprised guest goalie Michael Garnett! With their first power play Traktor gave the answer at 17:08 when Jan Bulis deflected the puck into the net from short distance after a powerful blue line shot by Dmitry Ryabkyin!
In the middle period Traktor took over the initiative completely. Around "half time" a shot by Dmitry Ryabykin during a 5 on 3 powerp lay for the guests, Andrei Kostitsyn used the rebound to turn around the match completely with a shot into the wide open net against the already beaten Dynamo goalie Alexander Yeryomenko. Without success Dynamo tried to give another answer until the second intermission.
The last 20 minutes started with an early goal for Dynamo when Marek Kvapil tried it with a shot from the left wing that found its way into the left top corner past the surprised Garnett who barely saw anything with one of his defenders standing immidiately in front of him at 43:37. In a completely even period everything was possible with chances on both sides but just when both teams seemed to prepare for a possible overtime, Janne Jalasvaara scored the game winner for Dynamo at 57:18 with a powerful shot from the slot into the right corner!
For Traktor Chelyabinsk it will be more or less necessary to win both their two home matches to keep their chances for a title win alive as it is extremly difficult to win three playoff matches in a row against this strong Dynamo.
