Everybody though that home ice would be extremely important in this Elitserien semi final series but Luleå outplayed Färjestad to win the first away game 4-1.
Luleå has had a terrible record in Karlstad this season but when it comes to playoff time they perform at their best. Tonight's win was never at danger.
Anton Hedman used Luleå's first power play to score 1-0 from close range at 12:10 Toni Koivisto made it 2-0 ten minutes later beautifully set up by Niklas Olausson before the playoff top scorer Chris Lee scored Färjestad's only goal of the night with a powerful shot. Linus Klasen made it 3-1 with another power play goal. Chris Abbott secured Luleå's 4-1 win with an empty net goal from the own end a minute before the buzzer.
Johan Gustafsson in Luleå's net made 26 saves while the home goalie Alexander Salak saved 25 shots.
The best-of-7 series continues on Sunday in Luleå.
