For the first time since 1979 Örebro is back in the Swedish top league. With a 5-2 win over Rögle tonight they secured the promotion even if three rounds still remain of Kvalserien. Leksand will most likely also return to Elitserien.
The qualification to Elitserien is called Kvalserien and is a round robin with six teams. Two from Elitserien and four from HockeyAllsvenskan. Both Rögle and Timrå lost tonight and. Rögle will be relegated and most likely timrå as well. Timrå is 9 points behind Leksand and has 24 goals worse goal difference with three games to play.
Örebro was the last team to qualify for Kvalserien so it is a big surprise that they are promoted. Last time they played in Elitserien was 1978/79.
