The 22 year old Färjestad player wins the trophy for the best defender in Elitserien.
Selected by Börje Salming, Magnus Nygren has been awarded with the Salming Trophy as the best defender in Sweden's Elitserien.
"It's a great honour, Börje is a legend and to get his award is some thing I value high. I remember my parents spoke about Börje and his games in NHL when I grew up", a happy Nygren said about the award.
"I've been impressed by Nygren during the season. He has improved his defence and is always a threat on the offensive blue line, especially in power plays", Salming said about Nygren and added "Magnus is a modern defender who is a great prospect for the future".
Nygren is drafted by Montreal but will play at least one more season with Färjestad. But first he is looking forward to this year's play off where he and Chris Lee will be important pair on defence.
