Dynamo back on top

Only two KHL games were played on Saturday

Alexander Ovechkin opened the score for Dynamo Moscow in their visit to Atlant Moscow Oblast already at 04:09. In the middle period Dynamo again had the better start when Ilya Gorokhov doubled the guest lead in power play after just 27 seconds. Around "half time" Swede Jonas Andersson managed to get Atlant on the scoreboard but just a minute later Konstantin Gorovikov used another power play to get the two-goal lead back for Dynamo. In the last 20 minutes Konstantin Volkov even made it 1-4. Dynamo not only reconquered the lead in Bobrov Division but also in the whole KHL with now 39 points in 18 matches.

A very late comeback brought Avangard Omsk two points in their away game against Severstal Cherepovets. Evgeny Ketov and Vadim Shipachyov twice earned a lead for the hosts Severstal with a goal by Andrei Ivanov in the middle period in between. When the home fans already felt a win in regulation would be a made thing, Avangard did the almost impossible. Avangard player Matti Kuparinen had to go to the penalty box for tripping at 58:38 and Eduard Reizvikh left his goal for an additional attacker shortly after that but instead of the decision for Severstal it was Anton Belov who extended the game to overtime with just four seconds left to play. After a goalless overtime Sergei Kostitsyan gained the extra point for Avangard in the 7th round of the shootout. Omsk now is tied on points with Chernyshyov Division leaders Sibir Novosibirsk - both teams have 31 points.
