Skellefteå and Luleå won the first quarter finals when the play-off of Elitserien started today.
Skellefteå - MoDo 3-2Skellefteå won all five regular season games against MoDo and won the sixth straight game against MoDo when they won the first quarter final. Skellefteå opened the scoring with a beuatiful power goal where Bud Holloway was left with an open net to score on. Skellefteå was the some what better team in a close game, but Dick Axelsson tied the game when he got a breakaway on a power play.
But the game wasn't tied for long and Skellefteå quickly took a two-goal lead when Jimmie Ericsson and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored. Joakim Lindström also missed a penalty shot. Dick Axelsson scored his second goal of the game in the third. The goal gave the game some more nerve and MoDo had some chances to tie the game but Skellefteå kept the lead and won 3-2.
Luleå - AIK 6-3Winning the regular season Luleå were big favourites. But it was AIK took the lead when Oscar Ahlström scored. Chris Abbott tied the game early in the second with a lucky shot from behind the goal line. But AIK took the lead when Patric Blomdahl scored from close range. Luleå was lucky once again, but perhaps they deserved it, when Tony Koivisto scored from behind the goalline again, with the puck deflecting in of the back of Viktor Fasth's leg.
But when Sebastian Enterfeldt made it 3-2 in the begining of the third luck has nothing to do with it. After the goal AIK started to take a lot of penalties and Johan Harju made it 4-2 on the power play. Luleå added two empty net goals and in between them Oscar Ahlström scored his second of the game to make the final score 6-3
