A short summary on what happened in the two games played in Elitserien today.
Frölunda - Linköping 3-2
Linköping were up 2-0 after 10 minutes and one minute later Frölunda took a time out. Shots on goal at that moment were 0-11. It took 15 minutes for Frölunda to get a shot on goal in a period completly dominated by Linköping.
In the second period Frölunda came out stronger but Fredrik Norrena did well in Linköping's goal until halfway through the game when a not so hard shot from Viktor Svedberg found it's way behind Norrena who didn't see the puck. The goal gave Frölunda more energy and three minutes later Frölunda tied the game when Joel Lundqvist scored on the power play.
The third period was a close battle with few shots and chances but with eight minutes left of the game Christian Bäckman gave Frölunda the lead. Bäckman's goal also turned out to be the game winner as no more goals were scored. An important win for Frölunda who have been showing bad form lately. For Linköping who are struggling in the bottom part of the table it was another hard loss.
"We get anxious when they score their first goal and we lose our momentum. I think it's because of our situation in the standings that we get anxious", Linköping's coach Hans Särkijärvi said after the game.
AIK - Brynäs 5-1
In Stockholm AIK was the better team in the first period against Brynäs but the score was 0-0 after 20 minutes. In the second period it was more about Brynäs but it was AIK who opened the score halfway through the game when Kent McDonell deflected a shot from the blueline. Brynäs come back a tied the when Ollas picked up a power play rebound. But with just 36 seconds left of the second period AIK regained the lead after a nice power play finished by Rastislav Pavlikovsky. Earlier in the period there was also some drama beside the ice when AIK's coach Roger Melin left the bench bleeding from his head after being hit by a puck.
The late goal in the second were boosted AIK who came out strong in the third and quickly made it 3-1. Brynäs did their best to come back but Viktor Fasth were solid in AIK's net and when Brynäs pulled the goalie AIK made it 4-1 and later also 5-1 when Brynäs had given up the game.
