Game recap

The Giants maintained pressure on Cardiff at the top with a convincing win over Guildford 24 hours after the teams needed overtime to separate them.

The Giants were two up after 20 minutes, Jonathan Ferland finding the net after only 3:36, and new-signing Jordan Smotherman adding a second at 17:36 to put the Giants in a good position. In just over a minute midway through the middle period the hosts doubled their lead, first through Kendall McFaull at 29:39, and then Chris Higgins at 30:42 making it 4-0 and giving Guildford a mountain to climb.

The Flames however did give their hosts something to worry about, bringing the score back to 4-2 with goals from Calle Ackered and Kruise Reddick at 40:41 and 49:11 respectively, but the Giants powered through to the final buzzer – goals from David Rutherford, Jonathan Boxill, and finally Josh Roach completed a 7-2 win and a Flames double for the Giants.
