Liepaja wins title in Latvia
The club estabilished two years ago brings title back in town
Two seasons after the return of professional hockey in
Liepaja, after the closure of historic Metalurgs that won 7 titles between 1999 and 2012, the title of
Latvian League is back in town after a dramatic finals series against
HK Kurbads,
decided at overtime of game 7 by a goal of Bruno Zabis. Kurbads,that
lost its third consecutive playoffs finals, recovered from 1-3 in the
series and from 0-3 in the last game before losing
4-3.
Last season champion HK Mogo, eliminaed by Kurbads in the semifinals,
won bronze beating 3-1 in the series HS Prizma Riga. Liepaja forward
Māris Diļevka was the top scorer of the league
