Djurgården beat Chaika Nizhny Novgorod 2-1 in the JCWC final in Yekaterinburg to become the first Swedish team to ever win the competition.
Right after a face-off Jesper Schiöler scored 2-1 for the Swedes at 5:55 of period three and Djurgården then managed to keep the lead till the end. Djurgården won the Swedish U20 championship last season and now managed to win the JCWC. Three Russian and one Canadian team had won the previous tournaments.
Chaika took the lead at 7:46 on a goal by Andrei Krupkin and David Bernhardt tied it at one for Djurgården two minutes into the second period.
Chicago Steel captured the bronze medals after a 3-2 win over Avto Yekaterinburg.
