Russian Hockey Federation announces today, in consultation with the head coach of the national team Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, that Alexei Kasatonov has been appointed general manager of the team for the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi.
Two-time Olympic champion Kasatonov said he will start working at the end of the Euro Tour stage in Czech Republic, and then will sign the contract with the Russian Ice Hockey Federation.
"The contract is not signed yet, so until it difficult to give a detailed commentary on the subject. I can only say that I am pleased to enter the headquarter of the national team and stressed that the latest decision on the composition of the team and the training program will always be for Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, who invited me to the national team." said Kasatonov, adding he will keep his position as GM in SKA St. Petersburg. "Club has supported me in this decision. Everybody understand that the national team is the team number one for the country".
