Ovechkin game winner before a record crowd

09 Oct 2012 | Henrik Lundqvist

Tonight a KHL record was set. The game HC Lev Praha - Dynamo Moscow was visited by 16,317 fans, the highest ever attendance number for a KHL game. The home crowd however didn't get to see their team score. Dynamo won the game on a goal by Alexander Ovechkin.

The record crowd of 16,317 in Prague saw the home team Lev lose 1-0 to Dynamo Moscow. The only goal of the game was scored at 33 seconds of the third period by no less than Alexander Ovechkin. The crowd did not like that the goal was allowed as they thought the Lev goalie Pöpperle had the puck covered. Dynamo's goalie Alexander Yeryomenko made 29 saves to earn his third shutout of the season.

In Ukraine all goals were scored in the second half of the game when Donbass beat their guest Severstal 4-1. Tuomas Kiiskinen, Vaclav Nedorost, Peter Podhradsky and Fredrik Pettersson scored for the home team. The home goalie Erik Ersberg was only beaten once, when Gennady Stolyarov made it 4-1 with 2:12 remaining.

The game between the Dynamo teams of Riga and Minsk was decided in overtime. The score was 1-1 after 60minutes after a Minsk goal by Alexander Kulakov and a Riga equalizer by Alexandre Giroux. The overtime goal was scored by Riga's Jamie Johnson at 62:27.
