21 Nov 2010, 03:29 | Bulgarian Hockey Federation gives ultimatum to Levski

After Levski Sofia forfait in league debut versus CSKA on November 18, the Federation gave the team an ultimatum to fullfill the players' roster before November 23 or team will be withdrawn from the league.

Levski didn't appear in the derby versus CSKA for  the 1st round of the Bulgarian league due to impossibility of allign enough players and pay the required fees. CSKA won the game 5:0.

If Levski will be unable to fulfil the conditions, the Federation is thinking to put national junior team as replacement.

Bulgarian League count just 3 teams.

After four defeats in the last five games, Czech 2 Liga team HC Spartak Pelhřimov fired coach Jaroslav Martínek and promoted as new coach the former assistant Martin Meloun. Meloun, 37,  finished his active career last year playing for Pelhřimov.

JYP beat SaiPa 9-1 tonight and leads the Finnish SM-Liiga by 10 points. The Jyväskylä team has only allowed 27 goals in 23 games.

Second placed HIFK from Helsinki also won today. 4-2 against Pelicans.

Perttu Lindgren of Lukko leads the league in scoring with 12 goals and 22 assists in 23 games.

Kent Norberg, General Manager of Frölunda HC in Elitserien resigned from his job yesterday. Frölunda are last in the standings, six points from a place in the playoffs.

IHC Pisek fired coach Rudolf Suchánek after 19 rounds of Czech 1 Division. Suchanek, 48 years old, helped team to win 2 Division last season. Currently Pisek is last in the league. New coach's name is still unknown

The interest for the games of the National League A and B is great again this season. The National League A has been visited by 882,189 spectators in 141 games so far this season. This is the highest average attendance since the 1998-99 season.

The average per game is 6,257 visitors, 157 spectators more than last season. Significant positive numbers have Genève-Servette HC (+474), SCL Tigers (+255), ZSC Lions (+204) and especially EV Zug with the new Bossard Arena (+ 1,856 spectators per game).

Works for a new icerink started Monday behind "La Médiacité" complex, in the Longdoz district. The arena will have regular olympic rink size and should open in September 2012.

Aleksei Fetisov was confirmed today as head coach of VHL team Sputnik Nizhny Tagil following the excellent team campaign after Fetisov appointment as interim head coach in mid october when he replaced sacked Aleksei Zdakhin. Sputnik won 9 of last 11 games.

Fetisov, 36, spent almost all player career in Sputnik, where he is 3rd ever top scorer

Monday night during a ceremony in Zurich, Swiss awards for last season were assigned. Here the results:

Best Goalkeeper: Tobias Stephan (Genève-Servette)
Best Defender: Mathias Seger (ZSC Lions)
Best Forward: Thomas Deruns (Genève-Servette)
Best Center: Josh Holden (EV Zug)
Best Young player: Roman Josi (SC Bern)
Best NLB player: Dominic Forget (Visp)
Golden Player: Josh Holden (EV Zug)

The Swede Marcus Vinnerborg will in tonight's game between Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks be the first European referee ever in the NHL. He will also conduct the game Colorado Avalanche-San Jose Sharks Wednesday night. Vinnerborg was awarded Swedish Referee of the Year the past three years.

When Elitserien restarted with two games after the international break AIK won their sixth straight game beating Södertälje 5-2. AIK are now in fourth place, a great performance so far by the club that almost everyone expected to finish last. In the other game of the evening Frölunda lost to Skellefteå, 0-3.

U20 team of current Spanish champion CH Jaca reported sunday opening season trophy Copa del Principe defeating 7-3 (1-1,2-0,4-2) FC Barcelona in Majadahonda "La Nevera" rink, despite presence in Catalan team of regular senior team players as Oriol Boronat and national team goalie Anders Alcaine.

Valentín Mairal (2), Pablo Puyuelo (2), Héctor Alastruey, Javier Luis and Alejandro Carbonell scored for champions, Oriol Boronat (2) and Marc Montelius for runner-up Barcelona

In semifinals, played saturday, Jaca won 3-1 hosts Majadahonda, while Barcelona defeated 5-3 CHH Txuri Urdin San Sebastian
