It's not only the World Juniors that are being played in Canada right now, in Windsor, Ontario the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge is being played.
Five regional Canadian teams, USA, Czech Republic, Sweden, Russia and Germany are playing at the 2012 World U17 Challenge organized by Hockey Canada.
The group stage is now over and the semi finals and placement games will be played on Tuesday. In the semi finals Sweden will play USA while Russia will play Ontario. Quebec will play Pacific for 5th place while Atlantic will play Czech Republic for 7th and Germany will play Western for 9th.
In Group A Ontario dominated winning all four games, only conceding four goals. Sweden who first seemed to having problems adjusting to playing in North America losing a friendly and the first game against Ontario big later got their game going and won three straight games with a good margin.
In Group B USA, Russia and Pacific all had three wins. Russia had defeated USA 3-2, Pacific had beaten Russia 4-3 and USA won 4-2 against the Pacific. As the results between the tied teams works as tie breaker USA won the group before Russia leaving Pacific outside the semi finals.
Sweden's Victor Öhman is the top scorer so far with 10 points in 4 games before J.T Compher (USA) with 9 points, after them several players follow on seven and points.
