USA closer to the quarter finals after a 3-2 win over France

The final score was only 3-2 but on the ice USA outclassed France who now is without a chance for the playoff spots.
The game was decided in the first half of the second period in which USA moved from 1-1 to a 3-1 lead. Captain Mark Stuart scored 2-1 and when USA got a power-play a couple of minutes later, Chris Kreider used it to make it 3-1.
Laurent Meunier made the final minutes interesting when he scored for France at 55:30, but the French side couldn’t produce any more goals.
The American team out-shot the French 38-22 and the win could easily have been bigger if the French goalie Cristobal Huet hadn’t had a good game.
France had taken the lead in the first period when Sasha Treille took a shot from long range that beat Ty Conklin in the American net.
Derek Stepan tied the game with a one timer.
Mark Stuart’s 2-1 goal was scored at 21:16 from the right side on a great pass from Chris Porter.
Chris Kreider made it 3-1 on an assist from Andy Miele who was positioned behind the French net.
USA still haven’t qualified for the quarter finals but the chances are very good. Therey can make it already tomorrow when they have a day off. If Sweden beats Switzerland.
