Lights blackout occurs during the first World Championships game in Košice

The very first game of World Championships ever played in Košice was remarked by the four-minute long lights blackout in Steel Arena. The third period of a group-stage game between Switzerland and France had to be interrupted.

Regarding to information of communication manager of Košice WC games Adam Steiss the organizers still don’t know what was the root cause of a blackout: „We just know that the blackout also met the city of Košice.“

The blackout evoked no important system like the ice cooling so in app. 10 minutes the game went on. „For all the life-time of Steel Arena it has never appeared a similar situation. Our technicians are investigating what already happened,“ Petr Handl, the head of organizational committee said in the press-release.
