A quiet week on the on the transfer front ahead of the release of upcoming fixtures being due this week.
Early in the week Dundee Stars announced they had secured the services of defenceman Felix Antoine-Poulin from Alaska Aces of the ECHL. He brings a combination of Canadian college experience and a strong showing in the East Coast Hockey League. Last season he iced on eighty four occasions scoring twenty two points. Coach Marc LeFebvre commented “Felix will bring some size and speed to the ice. He will upgrade our defensive core and in particular improve our offensive output from the backend. He is excellent in the locker room and will be a great addition to the clubhouse.”
Not to be outdone neighbours Fife Flyers made only there fifth addition in signing defender David Turon. He is no stranger to this league having played last season for Dundee Stars.
Turon was part of the NHL draft in 2002 round 4 (122 overall) by Toronto Maple Leafs and has also played in the AHL, CHL/ECHL, Slovakia, Czech, Germany 2, Italy and Poland. Turon has a wealth of experience and will be a welcome addition to the Flyers defensive core.
Conference rivals Manchester Storm swooped to sign American netminder Mike Clemente. He spent last season with Rungsted of Denmark but has also spent time in the AHL and ECHL.
Coach Omar Pacha was delighted with the capture of Clemente ahead of the new season, “Mike was someone that flashed up on my radar recently, and I am delighted to have secured his services. Goaltending is such an important position, so we took our time in doing research on Mike, and I’m very happy with all the references I received back on him. He is a really big body and covers the net, he moves well, is really agile, challenges the shooters, and comes highly recommended to us by many former coaches of his & players who have played against him. I’m delighted Mike will be between the pipes for us this upcoming season!”
That is the news transfer-wise but with the fixtures meeting being held last weekend it is believed the full list will be released sometime this week.
