Ambri-Piotta take revenge
After Saturdays loss, Ambri-Piotta was not in mood to hand out additional points. Matchwinner was goalie Sandro Zurkirchen.
Yesterdays game was a rematch from Saturday when the
Flyers had won the game 4:1 in Ambri and called the first critics of coach
Serge Pelletier on the plan. The starting minutes seemed to continue where the
game had ended for Kloten but out of nowhere the "biancoblu" scored
their first goal through Jesse Zraggen after 4 minutes. The Flyers didn't mind,
continued to play a solid game but in the process, only created a handful of
good chances while on the defensive end, handing Ambri some nice possibilities.
One of them leading to the second goal when the Flyers defense didn't clear the
puck good enough, thus giving Thibeau Monnet the second goal for his team just
minutes later.
Second period, same situation. Only this time the Ambri
defense had forgotten forward Corsin Casutt who was unattended next to the
goal, got a straight pass from Lukas Frick and just had to net the puck for the
Flyers first goal. It looked like Kloten had found a way to force their game on
Ambri, creating some high-quality chances. But instead it was Ambri once more
who scored out of nowhere. Now the game picked up some tempo and chaotic
situations, Mikko Mäenpää with a slapshot near the blue line scored the 4th
goal in the 32th minute. It took the Flyers less than a minute when Captain
Denis Hollenstein scored the second goal for the home team.
The story of the last period was quickly told. Neither
team was able to push their game any further and with just two minutes left
head coach Sean Simpson replaced goalie Gerber for a 6th player but instead of
scoring the 3rd goal, Adrian Lauper scored the empty netter for Ambri and
successfully took revenge for Saturday's loss.
