With tomorrows start of a new season in Champions Hockey League, Eurohockey is presenting the eight teams from SHL that will participate in this this years competition. Reigning champions are Luleå HF. This is Växjö Lakers.
Växjö Lakers made an impressive season last year and as a proof of their long time work and smart recruiting of players, Växjö certainly earned the title champions. But if they will defend the title this season, remains to see.
Växjö as an organisation is very young, but they have accomplished great things. In their fourth year in SHL, Växjö became Swedish Champions after have defeated Skellefteå AIK in the sixth game in the final round. History was made.
Växjö has, for upcoming season recruited some good players who will fill in for the losses. Among these we will find Ilkka Heikkinen, Richard Gynge. But most of llast seasons players are to remain in the team.
In CHL, Växjö would be playing in Group O along with ERC Ingolstadt and Braehead Clan.
First game for Växjö is Thursday August 20th against Braehead Clan in Vida Arena, Växjö, Sweden.
