RIP Ro Herregraven

RIP Ro Herregraven

30 Mar 2013 | eurohockey.com

European hockey has lost one of its biggest supporters this week after a long fight against cancer. We want to pay tribute to him with this short message!

Here is what Marc Brunengraber of our partner website International Hockey Forums wrote on Thursday morning in place of our big European hockey family:

International Hockey Forums has lost a very dear friend in the last 24 hours.

Ronald Herregraven has passed away far too young, leaving behind a beautiful wife, a beautiful young daughter, and a baby to come. He bravely fought cancer for years, becoming an inspiration to many in living life to the fullest, never complaining, never giving up, and never losing his dignity. He didn't hide from his battle, but rather used it to show that his disease, though it might have shortened his life, would not conquer him nor prevent him from living and sharing the joys that his remaining days did offer him with his family and his loved ones. He was known throughout the Netherlands, as his battle was the focus of a TV series in his native land (editor's note: "Over Mijn Lijk").

Ro was very active at the forums, and covered Dutch and Belgian hockey in depth for us through his expert commentary, & his sharing of articles, photos and videos. He in turn enjoyed learning about hockey elsewhere around the globe. He was a lot of fun to talk to and interact with. He was a wonderful hockey fan, and more importantly, he was a wonderful human being and a good man.

International Hockey Forums will dearly miss Ro. We mourn his too-soon passing, and we send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his wife, his daughter, their baby on the way, and his entire family and all of his loved ones.

Finally, we pay tribute to Ronald and his life. We will always honor his memory at our online community, and will forever cherish the time that we spent with him at the forums.

Here you find out more about Ro's fight against cancer. He'll be remembered!
