Finnish SM-liiga is ready for playoffs. Jokerit from Helsinki wins regular season title for the sixth time in their history and secures home advantage for as long as they play this spring. Jokerit's last regular season title came 12 years ago in season 2000-01.
Tappara from Tampere played very solid last quarter of the regular season and took 2nd place and scored club record 108 points in regular season.
Last season's champions JYP Jyväskylä became third and Ässät Pori starts playoffs from position 4. Ässät took 14 wins in a row in closing stages of regular season and it remains to be seen how they will keep alive their flow in playoffs.
Playoffs start with wild card round where Kärpät Oulu faces Lukko Rauma and HIFK Helsinki faces SaiPa Lappeenranta who reached playoffs for the
first time in seven years.
Ilves Tampere will play in relegation games for the third time in a row.
